@CyrilGeorge [name pseudonymized] [ontology] [164]: @BlkHistStudies #BlackHistoryMonthUK remind the #Woke #BLM folk of the slavery conducted by #Muslim #Arab slave traders and the #Ottomans (who included millions of white Christians). Here are some facts to use . Modern slavery still goes on in #Muslim countries especially #Libya [URL redacted]
"SOME FACTS about slavery the BLM crowd don't want you to know Historian Alan W. Fisher has stated that two million white Russians, Ukrainians, and Poles were captured and sold into slavery by Muslims between 1468 and 1694. Ottoman capital of Istanbul imported as many as 2.5 million slaves from Christian Europe and parts of the Muslim and Christian Caucasus between 1450 and 1700 Muslim slave traders trafficked 17 MILLION slaves along the Middle East, Indian Ocean and North Africa. Compare that to the FIFTEEN MILLION slaves who arrived in the Americas Some 5000 Ethiopian slaves passed through just ONE port (daily) on their way to Arabia. In India millions of slaves were taken after many wars and enslaved The first legal slave owner in American history was a black tobacco farmer name Anthony Johnson. North Carolina's largest slave holder in 1860 was a black plantation owner named William Ellison. American Indians owned thousands of black slaves. In 1830 there were 3,775 free black people who owned 12,740 black slaves. Many black slaves were allowed to hold jobs, own businesses, and own real estate. Brutal black-on-black slavery was common in Africa for thousands of years. Most slaves brought to America from Africa were purchased from black slave owners. Slavery was common for thousands of years. White people ended legal chattel slavery." #IRLHistorianAlanFisher #ToponymEastMiddleTurkeyIstanbul #PhenomnHumanTrafficking #PowerControlChattelSlavery #NarrativeTruthFabricationBlackOnBlackCrime #ReasoningFallacyStrawman #ReasoningFallacyAppealToTradition #OtheringHateIslamophobiaAntiMuslim #PowerControlBarbaryCaptivityNarratives
Context #OrgUSAfricanAmericanIntellectualHistorySocietyAAIHSTylerParry "As one of the few documented Black landowners in 17th-century Virginia, his unique story has morphed into a manipulative trope used by right-wing activists. From the 1960s-90s Johnson was predominantly known among academics who studied slavery, but interest in his (misrepresented) life has recently gained traction with the advent of digital sharing, discussion sites, and public forums. For instance, as of July 12, 2019 Johnson's Wikipedia page claims he was a 'colonist' sold by 'Arab slave traders,' though there is no citation for the latter claim, nor is it supported by historians. It was likely added by a user who hoped to redirect blame from the Atlantic Slave Trade toward the 'Arab Slave Trade,' a popular talking point among right-wing commentators. In his podcast disputing reparations for slavery, conservative pundit Michael Knowles reiterated this myth about Johnson without reviewing the available literature. Such historical distortions seek to minimize Europe's culpability in expanding African slavery and discredit the system's intergenerational impact upon African Americans." https://www.aaihs.org/the-curious-history-of-anthony-johnson-from-captive-african-to-right-wing-talking-point/ #IRLHistoricalFigureAnthonyJohnson [Wikipedia] #ToponymAmericaNorthUSVirginia #MetaphorPeriodization17thCentury #IdentityArab #BrandTheDailyWirePolemicistMichaelKnowles #MetaphorWarfareUnderAttackBlameAvoidance #PhenomnResponsibilityCulpability

"Problem is Kung-flu is a masterful piece of lampooning, that lost art which saw Victorians cartooning farting Kings and politicians in Punch magazine. The PC world, the hijackers of words like ISLAMOPHOBE (of sound provenance dating back to Greek in use 1300 years before Mohammed in a New Testament reference to FEAR of the Jews, of all things), the Woke, the BAME (who know not Wilberforce) the genderfluids, the misandrists, the feminista- shortlista's have destroyed the kind of satirical comedy of TWTWTW, Monty Python, Spitting Image (even Dad's Army, 'Allo,'Allo and Hi-de- hi)." #PoliticallyCorrectPC #IdentityBlackAsianAndMinorityEthnicBAME [Government] #IRLHistoricalFigureWilliamWilberforce ? #OtheringHateMisandry #CauseFeminism "feminista-shortlista" ? #TVThatWasTheWeekThatWasTWTWTW ? Context "President Trump's first use of the phrase 'kung flu' -- during a campaign rally in Tulsa last weekend -- drew broad political backlash as a racist slur against Asian Americans. Within three days, however, it was also something else: a rallying cry for his supporters." https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/with-kung-flu-trump-sparks-backlash-over-racist-language--and-a-rallying-cry-for-supporters/2020/06/24/485d151e-b620-11ea-aca5-ebb63d27e1ff_story.html #OrgClassifPPUSRepublicanPartyGOPPOTUSDonaldTrump #SlurKungFlu #AdvocacyTurningPointTPUSAAction #ToponymAmericaNorthUSOklahomaTulsa #IdentityAmericanAsian "Donald Trump used racist language to describe the coronavirus pandemic at a campaign rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by terming the virus as the 'kung flu'. ... Trump has repeatedly tried to term Covid-19 as the 'Chinese virus' or the 'Wuhan virus' which has prompted outrage from many civil liberties groups, who have warned that such language can inspire racism and violence against Asian Americans. But in Tulsa Trump appeared to go even further in his use of racist language. 'It has more names than any disease in history. I can name kung flu. I can name 19 different versions of names,' he said to cheers from the crowd. Trump has previously defended his language around linking the virus to China. Speaking at a daily coronavirus task force briefing in March, he said it was 'not racist at all. It comes from China. I want to be accurate.'" https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/jun/20/trump-covid-19-kung-flu-racist-language #PhenomnVirusCOVID19 #SlurChinaWuhanVirus #CauseCivilLiberties
Supplementary "Using the concept of displaced abjection, this chapter discusses how the Trump carnival, populist as it is, is not focused on ridiculing or challenging elites, but instead punching down, by targeting marginalized groups. Through displaced abjection, we see how the Trump carnival is centered on licensing and encouraging transgressions against specific democratic norms that affirm human dignity and equality. Trump, by humiliating and insulting age-old enemies, translates what is broadly considered unacceptable and undemocratic behavior into a transgressive, carnivalesque politics of violating fundamental democratic norms of equality, dignity, and pluralism" (Gaufman, E. & Ganesh, B., 2024, p.51,52). Addendum this justification has multiple problems. It seeks to conflate genuine satire (related to the criticism of imbalances of power) with Trump's ham-fisted racial slur. And then, it attempts to justify the bullying by using #ReasoningFallacyAppealToTradition (as if the process of repeating a slur transforms it into critique). It then uses a #ReasoningFallacyWhataboutism to justify #OtheringHateIslamophobiaAntiMuslim through conflating it with #OtheringHateAntisemitism (as if the forms of discrimination are somehow opposed to each other - rather than simply being two different forms - and so, are able to cancel each other out). It then attempts to pass off a generalised attack on various issues, which have received significant profile contemporarily i.e. #_CondemnationGender followed up with a plug for some dated #LiteralClassicBritishTV (whose humour is the product of the time when they were produced).
