None, however, captures the deepest, and perhaps most insidious, character of this event as a battle over who is a victim. Christine Blasey Ford's claim to victimhood was anchored on her right to speak out as a survivor who shared her suffering in the name of public interest; Brett Kavanaugh spoke out in order to defend his 'good name': he had suffered an unexpected attack, at a moment when his illustrious 30-year legal career was reaching its pinnacle.
