This groundbreaking concession has just been made on the eve of the publication of the AR6 report, the 5-year 'flagship' of the United Nations' climate agency, the IPCC. 'It has become clear in recent years that we cannot avoid this confession,' Gavin Schmidt, director of NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies, told Science magazine. Schmidt concluded: 'You end up with numbers that are insane for the short term, and blatantly obvious. incorrect.' This startling announcement from the NASA director is widely seen as a first step in the rehabilitation of critical climate scientists. These have been reviled for years because they use hard facts to show that the IPCC models tell a political story and pay little attention to the natural cycles in the Earth's climate. Past observations clearly show that extreme weather is timeless. Victims and material damage from the current floods and forest fires can largely be prevented through better management and less negligence ('adaptation'). Austrian minister Kiistinger issued a press release on July 25, in which environmental activists are being dealt with harshly for sabotaging flood protection measures. Over the past thirty years, the IPCC has sought to capture the attention of world leaders, politicians and the public by step-by-step making climate models more alarmist. But that never ends. Apparently, the new models have now become so extreme that even in IPCC circles, doubts are starting to set in. Michael Asten, an expert reviewer of the new AR6 report, sees the open admission that the new IPCC climate models are overheating as an extremely important concession. Until today, Western world leaders have made massive use of the apocalyptic climate messages to terrify citizens and thereby impose all kinds of priceless climate measures on them. Think of the extreme climate proposals by Timmermans, Rutte and Kaag. Critical climate scientists have always argued that at some point the truth would emerge. That moment has now come. What are the next steps (plan B)? In any case, we must decouple the environment, climate and energy policy. Environmental policy involves more attention to air and water pollution (such as biomass plants and Tata Steel) as well as mega-waste mountains (growing number of discarded batteries and solar panels). In climate policy, we must stop with the frightening CO2 stories. Not climate mitigation (reducing CO2), but climate adaptation (adapting to change) must be given top priority. The very expensive energy transition must be reviewed. Natural gas should remain our leading energy source for the time being. We can then prepare for the 'golden energy age', in which safe nuclear power plants will supply affordable, clean and safe energy to the rich and poor." [pdf]
