Context #NMUSThe19thKoBragg [Muckrack] [Wikipedia] "Chartered officially in June 1923, 'the WKKK embraced ideas of racial and religious privilege but rejected the messages of white female vulnerability,' Blee wrote. Where Klansmen saw women as homemakers, WKKK engaged around emphasizing the labor involved in raising children and maintaining a home and also how to best use their newly bestowed access to the franchise. According to Blee, 250,000 White women joined the WKKK in its first four months, by the organization's own claims. 'The women's Klan of the 1920s was not only a way to promote racist, intolerant, and xenophobic policies but also a social setting in which to enjoy their own racial and religious privileges,' Blee writes. 'These women recall their membership in one of U.S. history's most vicious campaigns of prejudice and hatred primarily as a time of friendship and solidarity among like-minded women.' A lot has changed since Blee's book published, but she still makes the case that many aspects of the Klan's ideology, although distant in time, are frighteningly close in spirit to the pervasive strands of racism and unacknowledged privilege that exist among dominant groups in the United States today." https://19thnews.org/2020/12/first-came-suffrage-then-came-the-women-of-the-ku-klux-klan/ #IRLSociologistKathleenBlee #1991_WomenOfTheKlanRacismAndGenderInThe1920s [Wikipedia] #PhenomnWhitePrivilege #PhenomnRoleParentingHomemaker [Wikipedia] #BehaviourToleranceIn #OtheringHateXenophobia #PoliticsNationalismXenophobicNativism #PoliticsNationalismChristian #PolicyUniversalSuffrage #OtheringHateMisogyny

Supplementary #OrgUSMIJimCrowMuseumOfRacistMemorabilia [Wikipedia] "The brute caricature portrays black men as innately savage, animalistic, destructive, and criminal -- deserving punishment, maybe death. This brute is a fiend, a sociopath, an anti-social menace. Black brutes are depicted as hideous, terrifying predators who target helpless victims, especially white women." https://jimcrowmuseum.ferris.edu/brute/ #OtheringCaricatureSlaveryBrute And #OtheringCaricatureSlaveryNat i.e. "The Nat caricature portrays African and African American males as angry, crazed, revengeful brutes with a bloodthirsty hatred for white people. Like many anti-black caricatures, the Nat portrayal was popularized during American slavery.... 'Nat was the rebel who rivaled Sambo in the universality and continuity of his literary image. Revengeful, bloodthirsty, cunning, treacherous, and savage, Nat was the ravager of white women who defied all the rules of plantation society. Subdued and punished only when overcome by superior numbers of firepower, Nat retaliated when attacked by whites, led guerrilla activities of maroons against isolated plantations, killed overseers and planters, or burned plantation buildings when he was abused... Addendum points to an #OtheringHateAntisemitism #OtheringHateAntisemiticCanard (conspiracy theory) about some sort of overarching goal of world domination mounted by #IdentityJewish people (in this case, domination of mainstream media). The canard is interesting in the way that it seeks to frame such supposed malevolent intent as a form of 'mind-control' (manipulation) where in their nativity, and having gone against sort of 'predefined natural, social order', such supposed 'white liberals' have received their ultimate punishment i.e. 'they deserve what's coming to them!'. The image collage functions as a #PhenomnCautionaryTale for others who might stray from such a 'natural order' (especially, those conservatives who are more excepting of liberal values). The reality of course, is that a random (and misrepresentative sample) of domestic violence cases has been amassed in such a way that it feels plausible, when it is in fact a non sequitur [Folksonomy] where just because some black men have inflicted violence on some white people - there is a #ReasoningFallacyFormalNonSequitur #ReasoningFallacyStrawman that black men are innately dangerous (or that all mixed-race #MetaphorPurityRacialWhiteWomenAndBlackMen relationships must inevitably end in disaster - because doing so breaks with natural laws and contravenes #MetaphorSpatialHierarchyStratificationRacial). Note that I assume that such a 'natural order' is religiously defined e.g. some sort of perversion of (Old Testament) Christian belief i.e. #TheoryExnominationChristianity. There is also an assumption that 'liberals' are easily fooled because of their over willingness to accept difference and to challenge established tradition i.e. break natural rules. #OtheringDiscriminationRacism
