Just as black folks saw how housing projects were hyped as a way to provide blacks with cheap, affordable housing but in reality served as a form of government-sponsored segregation. And let's not even get into how the community views police officers whose job it is to 'serve and protect' tax-paying African-American citizens. So yeah, we're still a little suspicious. Because of this mistrust, the way black folks have dealt with their oppression over the years is to handle their business internally. Privately. In the community.
