@AlaynaMouradian [name pseudonymized] [ontology] : Question: Is the phrase "Content of their character" now a white supremacist dog whistle? #Woke [URL redacted]
#SlurWhiteSupremacy #MetaphorDogWhistle
Context reference to: "I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin, but by the *content of their character*". On 28 August in 1963, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. #1963_IHaveADream #1963_MarchOnWashingtonForJobsAndFreedom
Supplementary "Critics of affirmative action support their claim to a colorblind Constitution with disingenuous references to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.,17 who famously dreamed of a time when people would be 'judged not by the color of their skin but the content of their character.' But King was denouncing a brutal regime of forced segregation, humiliation, and lynching of black citizens. There is little doubt he would find modest race preference an acceptable, indeed necessary, curative." https://www.nlg.org/nlg-review/article/from-dog-whistle-to-megaphone-the-trump-regimes-cynical-assault-on-affirmative-action-2/ #JournalNLGReviewASocialJusticeLawJournalMarkSBrodin #PolicyAffirmativeActionDiscriminationPositive #TheoryRacialColourBlindnessContentOfTheirCharacter

Addendum in asking his open questions, Rubin is referencing #IRLActivistMartinLutherKingMLK's #1963_IHaveADream i.e. "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." speech, which he is doing to advance a #TheoryRacialColourBlindness argument. However, King's daughter - #IRLLawyerBerniceKing explains that this isn't what her father mean i.e. #TVViacomCBS "'What my father is asking is to create the climate where every American can realize his or her dreams,' he says. 'Now what does that mean when you have 50 million people living in poverty?' Bernice King doubts her father would seek to ignore differences. Bernice King says her father is asking us 'to get to a place - we're obviously not there - but to get to a place where the first thing that we utilize as a measurement is not someone's external designation, but it really is trying to look beyond that into the substance of a person in making certain decisions, to rid ourselves of those kinds of prejudices and biases that we often bring to decisions that we make.'" https://www.cbsnews.com/news/mlks-content-of-character-quote-inspires-debate/ #1963_MarchOnWashingtonForJobsAndFreedom
