@ErickHoogenboom [name pseudonymized] [ontology] : George Floyd is going be anointed as a saint. Even though he was a nasty, drug-dealing violent thug. Aren’t #woke and #blm values wonderful? [URL redacted] [URL redacted]
#IRLDeceasedGeorgeFloyd #CauseBlackLivesMatterBLM Incredible #ReasoningFallacyFalseEquivalence argument being presented here: "that it's admissible to murder someone who is innocent (until proven guilty) for a suspected crime if they have previously been charged with (or even convicted and presumably, who has also served the sentence for) a crime". This points to an idealogical perspective, which is antithetical to the contemporary perspective, which divorces our actions from whom we are as people - that we are all fundamentally good/just - and that all is redeemable. In this way, the perspective is a highly individualised one - that locates responsibility as a solely individual issue as per #TheoryInstrumentalism and that we are not in anyway a consequence of our circumstances - where the world we inhabit is #EpistemologySociallyConstructed (as per the theory of socio-constructivism). "In modern society power is imposed not by the personal presence and brute force of a caste of nobles as it was in earlier times but by the systematic scribblings in discourses, by the continual monitoring of daily life, adjusting and readjusting ad in finitum the norm of individuality. Modern society may be read as a discourse in which nominal freedom of action is canceled by the ubiquitous look of the other"(Mark Poster pp.90-91). [Folksonomy]
