#NMUSNationalPublicRadioNPR "During the presidential debate on Monday night, Hillary Clinton raised a 1973 federal lawsuit brought against Donald Trump and his company for alleged racial discrimination at Trump housing developments in New York. The Justice Department sued Donald Trump, his father, Fred, and Trump Management in order to obtain a settlement in which Trump and his father would promise not to discriminate. The case eventually was settled two years later after Trump tried to countersue the Justice Department for $100 million for making false statements. Those allegations were dismissed by the court." https://www.npr.org/2016/09/29/495955920/donald-trump-plagued-by-decades-old-housing-discrimination-case #OrgClassifPPUSDemocraticPartyHillaryClinton #1973_ #OrgUSFedDptOfJusticeDOJ #IRLHistoricalFigureFredTrump #OtheringDiscriminationRacism #OrgClassifPPUSRepublicanPartyGOPPOTUSDonaldTrump
#NewspaperUSBrdshtNewYorkTimesJanRansom "President Trump said on Tuesday that he would not apologize for his harsh comments in 1989 about the Central Park Five, the five black and Latino men who as teenagers were wrongly convicted of the brutal rape of a jogger in New York City. Mr. Trump was asked about newspaper advertisements he bought back then calling for New York State to adopt the death penalty after the attack. (The ads never explicitly called for the death penalty for the five defendants.) 'You have people on both sides of that,' he said at the White House. 'They admitted their guilt.'" https://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/18/nyregion/central-park-five-trump.html #1989_CentralParkFiveACKExoneratedFive [Wikipedia]

Context #MagazineEntertainmentWeeklyEmlynTravis "Throughout her life, Littlefeather claimed both White Mountain Apache and Yaqui Indian heritage. Her sisters, however, told Native American journalist Jacqueline Keeler that they identified as Spanish and that their family had no links to any tribal identity. During her research into Littlefeather's ancestry, Keeler discovered that the actress was born Maria Louise Cruz to parents Manuel Ybarra Cruz and Gertrude Barnitz in Salinas, Calif., in 1946. Keeler noted, 'My review of her father's side of the family tree, where she claimed her Native heritage, found no documented ties between his extended family and any extant Native American nations in the United States.'" https://ew.com/movies/sacheen-littlefeather-native-american-oscars-protester-fraud-sisters-say/ #IRLWriterJacquelineKeeler #MetaphorDeceitImposturePretendian [Wikipedia] #PhenomnCredentialization And #IRLSingerSongwriterBuffySainteMarie https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-67351680

@ScottDal [name pseudonymized] [ontology] : 1/ When the Soviets discovered #woke-ism (From V. Bukovsky’s magisterial Judgment at Moscow) Here, after Brezhnev’s '73 US visit, the Central Committee directs all foreign propaganda resources toward fighting ‘pointless’ US leftism… @mattyglesias @ZachG932 @conceptualjames [URL redacted]
"So after Brezhnev's visit to the USA, the CC adopted 'a broad program of propagandist measures' in which its strategy is reflected quite precisely. At an emergency meeting called by the CC for all leaders of 'Soviet public organizations and Soviet representatives in international democratic organizations,' the following instructions were issued 'regarding the purposes of their work under contemporary conditions, and also on questions of the development of links with public organizations and movements in the USA for strengthening our influence on broad circles of the American public' (24 July 1973*, St 88/1, pp. 7-8): In all spheres of propaganda, expose the inadequacy of various forms of petit bourgeois leftist movements that have found favor among some young people in the capitalist world, the pointless-ness of the so-called 'rebellion of youth' unconnected with the liberating work of the proletariat, and attempts to ignore the real problems and contradictions of capitalist society. Stress that only socialism opens the way to the genuine liberation of the younger generation. Rebuff firmly 'technocratic' and other"

@CarterTibbetts [name pseudonymized] [ontology] : I saw a couple episodes of #CoronationStreet recently (long story!). Has it been hijacked by a team of socialist writers or something? It is dripping in so much #woke agenda it can hardly fit a storyline in. Prediction: #Corrie will be off the air within 3 years. [URL redacted]

Addendum from this comment, you would think that #TVCoronationStreet has nothing to do with #PoliticsSocialism, and yet if you note the introduction to this #1973_ episode https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LKs6dluYi4 you'll see that the camera intentionally pans from the (then) new apartment high-risers, which are shown towering over the decrepit Victorian terraces where the programme is set - clearly identifying the street and its characters as being metaphorically below/beneath (and presumably, behind the times).
