Supplementary #HandleRedditLegitimateShift8 [commentary] "I feel like whites who are super 'woke' tend to be more racist than whites who aren't. As black man there is nothing I hate more than a 'woke' white person. The super 'woke' white people I've met have a tendency to almost preach to you how much they hate racism. How much they hate the hardships that black people have faced and how much they hate how hard your life has been. How hard it must have been dealing with the drugs and violence that was 'ingrained' in our community and growing up in the projects because of systematic oppression. I know that in some ways it comes from a place of them wanting me to trust and like them, but I can't help but feel as if they are pitying me and black people as a whole. It feels as though they are, subconsciously, believing into the negative stereotypes more than they are going against them. The best friendships and interactions I've had with white people have been with the ones who just treat me and other black people like humans. They acknowledge my ethnicity, but they don't make preconceived notions and judgements because of it. They treat me and other black people with the same respect and kindness they would treat everyone else with. They don't treat us like wounded, fragile victims who need to be constantly reminded how much you feel sorry for them."
