Addendum criticism of Nguyen winning this award generally have nothing to do with her ability to demonstrate the stated criteria i.e. "scholastic aptitude, talent, character, community service and poise" - or to put it more bluntly, the event isn't a run-of-the-mill 'beauty contest'. So where's the issue?
