"Florence Mills (1895 or 1896-1927) was a popular African-American revue artist of the 1920s. She is credited with being the first woman to be publicly called beautiful in the racist United States. After she died young in 1927 after a European tour, the Afro-American community in particular was shaken. As a result, Duke Ellington wrote 'Black Beauty' for her, immortalizing her musically.
The photo shows Florence Mills in an Indian costume. One could now assume that Woke leftists consider this behavior to be racist according to the ideology of cultural appropriation.
